Unfortunately I had nothing but trouble with my PlayStation Pulse Elite headphones and ended up going back to my original Pulse 3D ones. Constant disconnects and when I looked into it I found a lot of people having the same issue.
I thought the Pulse Elite had big connectivity problems? Here it says “seamless connectivity”?
I’d still like to upgrade from my Pulse 3D (with worn cushions), but the experiences with bad connectivity are holding me back.
@Darude84 looks like we posted a few seconds apart. I had to return mine due to disconnects. It was a pain to reconnect too, I had to remove the dongle which was in the back.
For the price the pulse 3d headset is perfect for me brilliant headphones
A great recommendation.
The premium SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is the gold standard of head sets. If you feel like you are in a position to shell out for a headset that lasts +4 years, go ahead and get it.
I have the Pulse Elite - great value if you pick it up with a little discount. I couldn't allow myself the premium SteelSeries, and I recommend the Pulse Elite if you want to settle.
@h15c0r3r
It is a matter of you turning on the headset to soon I believe.
Here's how it works. Turn on the PS5, do the log-on account and let it arrive to your start page/game. Then, turn on the headset and it connects seamlessly.
I've been using the Sony Inzone H9 headset on my PS5 and now PS5 Pro for 2 and a half years. After previous experiences with Turtle Beach Stealth 700 and Steelseries Arctis 7 with which I was not completely satisfied, I found a headset that suits me 100%. If it breaks once and they still sell it I'll go for the Sony Inzone H9 again.
BEWARE: The review fails to mention the well known disconnecting issue with the Pulse Elite.
You’ll be playing and the headset will randomly disconnect. Rebooting it won’t work, the PS will see it as a new device and ask you to connect. Still doesn’t work.
The ONLY fix is to unplug your dongle and plug it back in, then reboot the headset. This has been an issue since launch and seemingly won’t be fixed by Sony.
This is even more annoying on the Pro as the only port the dongle fits into is at the back of the console.
@EfYI it’s a strange one. I can be playing for a couple of hour's with no issue, then all of a sudden it will disconnect. And with the dongle being in the back it’s a pain to reconnect.
Always found pulse headphones the most uncomfortable things ever, made my ears go red and sore within no time at all, seems to be a Sony thing as i tried XM4's and had the same issue.
@BiosNova nothing worse than having to take your dongle out mid session eh 🤣
@EfYI Sadly this is untrue. It can disconnect at anytime randomly
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P does have Bluetooth connectivity. I know. I own a set.
@h15c0r3r My experience as well. Still using Pulse Elite, trying to place the receiver in the direct line of sight to minimize disconnects. What's weird, three models of Audeze wireless headsets I owned never had this disconnect problem with PlayStation, and they are the guys working for Sony now.
In my opinion Audeze Maxwell remains the top choice in this area.
I have the Sony Inzone headset and love it. I found it to be worth the money. Hope Sony keeps the Inzone line around and continue to improve it going forward. These i have never had but heard they are solid.
Do any of these let you have duel audio inputs from different sources. Say one from PS5 & one from phone? I have Pulse 3D & as far as I know it only accepts one input.
The official Xbox wireless headset let you do this and it's handy if I want to play a game like Minecraft and also listen / watch a stream on my phone.
Push Square - this is too bias since you do not say anything about the unstable connectivity of the Elite.
@Sergo also, no mention of the tendency of these Sony headsets to break at the join in the strap. Google this and it seems a very very common problem. Come on
@RiverGenie
Pulse Elite connects to the PS5 and phone (via Bluetooth) simultaneously. I know this article is about headsets but the Pulse Explore earbuds do too. It’s great for listening to audiobooks and playing Power Washer Simulator. 😎🤓 One day I’ll quit my day job and open a solo power washing business. A man can dream…
@Darude84 Buy new cushions. Easy to replace
@Darren
You missed an opportunity to make the tagline “hear our top picks…” 😜
@h15c0r3r @Darude84 same. Such a shame something so silly let's down an otherwise great headset.
I'm on my second set (replacement) as my first set eventually decided not to connect to anything at all.
It's really strange, they randomly disconnect from the console, but can't say I've ever noticed them disconnect from the PS Portal.
I have an extra dongle I use for PC and connection is always fine. Even tried to swap the dongles to see if one was faulty, but console still disconnects randomly.
It feels like it disconnects less frequently using the front USB (OG model PS5) but evidence suggests the console is the problem rather than the headset and/or dongle.
This should be called the best wireless headsets for PS5 since there are a ton of wired options for cheaper that will take a dump on any of these in terms of sound quality.
I've tried alot of theses headsets and alot of headsets in general and steelseries pro are by far best wireless option I've had but a bit pricey. All Sony headsets Ive tried have been decent for value for money but i must have a big head because the top of the headset has cracked in every model I've owned haha. The hyper x cloud wired were amazing headset for much cheaper than most theses wireless options.
I’ve had two Pulse Elite headsets, one couldn’t keep a connection despite trying every fix known to man, and the replacement was even worse. It’s a shame because they’re comfortable and sound genuinely great. Scam of a product from Sony and a huge black mark against them for pushing a known defective product.
@BiosNova
Yes - I remember a few disconnects happening. I haven't experienced one in a couple of weeks though. But to be fair: I can recommend the Pulse Elite if you find them discounted and you can tolerate the occasional disconnect.
Arctis Nova Pro for my xbox and Inzone H9 for my PS5. Slight advantage with the Arctis though is the hot swappable batteries, but thats minor considering the long battery life of the Inzone anyway.
Both are excellent btw, would highly recommend. Not cheap, but thankfully have had zero problems with them.
@HonestHick, did your head-rest (foam thing) last more than three months? Mine’s duct-taped 😂. Great headphone i could have used a 3.5mm jack socket too though
I’m using Inzone H9’s which are fine, and nice to have a wireless connection via the dongle, while being able to listen to Bluetooth at the same time.
I’m tempted to go Bluetooth APTX-LL (Low latency) which I’ve got downstairs for TV/games, and has removed lipsync issues (the headphones are fairly cheap Sennheiser on-ear which are a bit pinchy) with a Avantree APTXLL transmitter.
I used to love my Turtlebeach 800’s but they fell apart after 5 or 6 years. Steelseries Siberia 800’s were good but no noise-cancelling.
So my wishlist is:
A little mixer downstairs with bluetooth transceiver (for Spotify on the phone), and audio from a HDMI splitter into an APTx-LL to APTx-LL headphones works okay, but I’m not sure about the PS5 output from the HDMI splitter (whether I’m getting 3D audio)
Just wished there was a headset which did all that!
@Jrs1 Auditus Interuptus! 😂
@DrVenture69 yeah so far mine has held up. But i don’t use them all the time. Agreed on the 3.5. Otherwise i really like them.
